The beautiful town of Lambertville, NJ sits on the Delaware River, across from New Hope, PA. The quaint and picturesque streets are populated with antique shops, restaurants, hotels. Even late into the evening, there are shoppers and passers-by to be found throughout the Main Street area. One of the attractions is St. John's Church, a gorgeous stone edifice with a towering steeple, situated right in the middle of all of the action. As the church is generally open to the public for prayer, it's not uncommon for dozens of visitors to pass through the church every day.
An extensive renovation and renewal of the church nave and sanctuary was undertaken in 2014, and the church leadership saw a great opportunity to improve upon the organ situation as well. After extensive investigation into every possible solution, both pipe and digital, a recommendation was made to commission Marshall & Ogletree to build a large 3-manual Opus organ for St. John's Church.
The console was finished in a rich-looking dark oak, matching nearby woodwork in the balcony and the organ case. Our signature 'French Polish' mahogany interior and ivory/ebony keyboards were also utilized. The result is a console that is comfortable to play, and beautiul to look at. The church's original pipe organ casework and freshly re-stenciled facade pipes add to the appeal of the installation.
The organ's 32-channel sound system is primarily housed inside the existing organ case, with speakers for the Antiphonal Division installed behind the reredos in the Sanctuary. The lovely acoustics set the stage for BIG organ sound, and that's what Opus 9 delivers.
